Macao Forum was completed and open in 1985, as an important venue for sports competitions, cultural and recreational performances. At the beginning, it was designed by a Portuguese engineer, while the Chinese government invested in its renovation in 1999 in order to coordinate the establishment ceremony of the Macao SAR Government held in the Forum. This renovation project covered aspects such as the facades of the external walls, main hall, and exhibition hall displaying gifts from different provinces and cities, lounge and meeting hall for national leaders, lounge for Macao SAR officials, news centre, and conference halls. Zhou Xukai, Chief Engineer from China, undertook the whole project.

Macao Polytechnic Institute was completed and open in 1991, Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) is a public institution of higher education with an emphasis on applied knowledge and skills.
